Built in Leba, the new branch of the museum is a unique facility in the country, combining cultural, scientific and educational functions. It was designed to preserve Poland’s Baltic-related heritage for future generations. The state-of-the-art exhibition takes visitors through centuries of Baltic shipping history, showcasing many aspects of NMM’s underwater archaeological research. The space dedicated to fishing is centered around the main exhibit: A 25-meter steel cutter. Offshore wind energy issues are also on display. With its architecture, the new museum is reminiscent of the sea, sandy shores and wind-filled sails. The visual qualities of the building are accompanied by ecological energy solutions.
